David is a Melbourne based artist with a focus on drawing, painting and collage.

He has been exhibiting artwork for over 30 years, in various venues including public institutions and private galleries, both in Melbourne and in New York where he lived in the 1990's.

He has enjoyed a long association with the William Mora Galleries in Melbourne, recently presenting ' Basalt Temple' (2019)  which featured paintings that showcased the landscape around Falls Creek.

A book was produced to accompany this exhibition.

Containing illustrations of drawings and paintings, photographs of source material and text, it is available for purchase from Metropolis Bookshop at metropolisbookshop.com.au. More information can be found on David’s website.

David has been employed at the Monash University Museum of Art since 1998, where he works closely with the University Art Collection.

David makes site specific drawings on location and later joins pages together, not necessarily chronologically, until the composition excites and suggests a direction.

Each drawing began with a particular event but gradually transformed into a hybrid form

Resembling maps, his autobiographical journeys are enmeshed in a warped grid of social comment, natural history and landscape. They create narratives, with resonance of place infused with fragments of space and time. Travel is a recurring theme and road trips, bushwalks and other events can all feature, and they may take years to complete.
